Pilgrimage: Salvador Dalí House Museum
Giant teacups in the garden, stuffed swans, and a madcap collection of Dalí‘s personal artifacts—plus magnificent hikes at Cap de Creus
Salvador Dalí‘s Portlligat house/studio where he lived with his partner and muse Gala for 50-plus years, all its beauty, absurdity and personal artifacts perfectly intact.
Where is it?
In Portlligat, a speck of a village just outside Cadaques on the remote Cap de Creus in the Costa Brava. Think end-of-the-world views and a wild landscape full of wispy scrub, salt-sculpted rocks, dramatic cliffs and secluded coves. Dalí‘s house overlooks a small bay dotted with colorful fishing boats and views that can’t possibly look much different than they did a half century ago.
