Here at In Hand, we have been quietly amassing a list of some of our favorite things for the holiday gift-giving season. Each pick supports artisans, makers and designers who place a thoughtful emphasis on handmade traditions and local craftsmanship. Of course, it goes without saying to support your local artists and makers (!!), but in the name of honoring the beautiful traditions the world over, our collection of ideas ranges from Himalayan scarves woven on high Nepalese peaks to single-sourced olive oils from Andalusia, to a handmade bowl made with clay from the banks of the Nile.

Abask celebrates global artisans who use time-honored techniques and this lovely set of botanical plates is a perfect example. Handmade by Egyptian ceramicist Randa Omar, it's made with Aswan clay from the River Nile.
